MATTHEW DUNCAN
Matthew
Duncan is currently a postgraduate student at the Royal Northern College
of Music where he is undertaking the Vocal & Opera course with
Thomas Schulze. After graduating in Music at the University in Hull
in 2004 he attended the Morley Opera Course in London and also studied
in Perugia and Hamburg.
Earlier this year he sang the title role in Britten’s Billy Budd at
the RNCM and also appeared in the college’s recent production of Le
Nozze di Figaro. In 2007 he sang the role of Masetto (Don Giovanni)
with Opera Anywhere and also appeared in Strauss’s ‘The Bat's Revenge’
with Alternative Opera Company.
Roles performed at Morley
College Opera included Gugliemo & Don Alfonso (Cosi fan Tutte),
Ottone, (Coronation of Poppea), Figaro (Barber of Seville) as well
in extracts from Manon, Don Pasquale, Lucia di Lammermoor and Dido
& Aeneas.
Matthew sings frequently as an oratorio soloist and recitalist. He
has recently sung Bach’s Cantata no. 23 ‘Halt im gedachtis Jesum Christ’
with the Yorke Trust in Norfolk and in Schubert’s Mass in A flat and
Mass in G with Ulveston Choral Society.
