SOPHIE JONES

Sophie Jones graduated from the University of York music department in 2006 with a first class degree. While at university she specialised in early music performance with one project including a staged production of John Blow's opera 'Venus and Adonis'. She has sung on three recordings for the Ebor Singers released on Boraes Music including Victoria's 'Requiem' and Britten's 'Ceremony of Carols'. She has also travelled to Leipzig to perform in the annual Bach festival with Yorkshire Bach Choir. Before leaving York Sophie performed as part of the Beverly Early Music Festival, singing a selection of Handel's German Arias.

After four years in York, she moved to London to pursue a career in choral, oratorio and consort singing. Under the direction of Mark Shepherd, she has extensively toured France and Belgium with Oxford Voices, and while in Paris joined up with the New Voices of St Petersburg to perform Spem in Allium by Tallis across the city. She has also toured Rome with Palladium Musicum led by Jeremy Summerly. Sophie recently returned from touring the east coast of America including New York and Washington.

She has just been involved with the St Pancras Contemporary Church Music Festival. As part of the festival the choir sang on Radio 3 'in tune' and took part in a live broadcast of Trinity Sunday Evensong. Now based between Winchester and London, Sophie regularly sings with various churches and looks forward to a busy summer schedule of tours and concerts
