Nightingale Stephanie Wingham spent her early years of musical tuition at the Blackheath Conservatoire of Music and the Arts (BCMA) in London, studying flute with Veronica Hatten and attending frequent master-classes with the late Gareth Morris. She became principal flute of the National Children’s Orchestra and the Kent Youth Wind Orchestra with whom she toured many parts of the UK, Europe, Singapore and Malaysia. In 1994 Stephanie graduated in music from the University of East Anglia where she held scholarships for music performance. She studied flute with Michelle Lee, and performed regularly as a soloist including the Lennox Berkeley flute concerto. In 1995 Stephanie had the honour of being invited to teach the flute at BCMA, which she continued for seven years. Stephanie was principal flute of the Norfolk Symphony Orchestra for five years, during which time she also performed as a soloist. Stephanie has studied with the internationally acclaimed flautist Wissam Boustany, and leads a busy schedule combining teaching the flute in Suffolk with performing as a freelance orchestral player and proofing new music for leading music publishers. Stephanie lives in the middle of nowhere with husband Nick and loves getting lost in the countryside with their golden retriever, sings in a local choir for fun, and regularly tortures herself at pilates workouts. |
